Andrew’s imagination has gone wild. I love it. He gets so involved in pretend play. It is so cute to watch him and it is getting more elaborate every day. I love watching him play like this. When I was in college and grad school I learned a lot about pretend play and imagination for development. How it is good for processing new things learned, how it helps them think independently for new and unusual things, how it is a safe place to try new things or ways of playing with a toy and I am sure many more that I am leaving out.
It is also fun because he is leading the play time more than me. So I don’t always have to be right next to him doing exactly what he is doing, and his ideas are so much more fun than mine.
Lily jamming out. Andrew put the guitar in her lap and told her to play.
While I was taking pictures of Lily playing the guitar Andrew joined in to, telling Lily to “cheese."
Look at the fear on Lily’s face as Andrew gets ready to give her a shot.
This was my favorite thing that happened yesterday. Andrew tells me he is calling Anna’s mom.
Me: Oh you are calling Mrs. Kelli
Andrew: Hi, Ms. Kelli talk to momma
he hands me the phone and I pretend to talk to her about Andrew and Anna. Andrew takes the phone back and says “bye, Kelly, Anna’s momma” Andrew puts the phone down and tells me we are going to bye bye to Anna’s house now.
Andrew is now making his own play dates!
He is talking non stop now, everything that he is thinking about, he is telling me now. At times I think please stop talking right now, but I am reminded at how long I had to wait to hear all that he has to say.
