On Tuesday I took the kids to the dr. because Lily has had allergy congestion for a couple of weeks and Andrew had been having some tummy issues for a week and had a fever on Monday night. So I didn’t think the kids were very sick, in fact that morning I almost took them to the park instead of the dr. Well it turns out that Andrew’s tummy issues was giradia, stomach ameba and he had a ear infection and was in the early stages of a upper respiratory infection. Lily had a upper respiratory infection and probably a sinus infection. She had to have a breathing treatment before she left, since she is so little, it is hard for her to get all of the fluid and mucus broken up.
Lily didn’t mind the breathing treatment.
Andrew has had to be on a practically no fat diet for the week as well as the BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast) diet. We had him on the BRAT diet because both of the antibiotics have been hard on his stomach. It is no fun trying to get him to eat bland foods. He has basically lived off of applesauce and juice for the week! We are praying that the antibiotic will fix his tummy of all the issues he has had for several months now.
We had a big scare on Tuesday night. I give Andrew his first dose of the antibiotic for his tummy. It had to be compounded, compounded medications aren’t covered on our insurance, it was $60. I turn around and bottle is spilled all over the ground and is all over Andrew. It was our 1st time to call poison control. We don’t know how much Andrew drank, he was fine. He didn’t have any side effects, not even stomach cramping. It was so scary and made me thankful for childproof bottles (this bottle was not child proof). After I cleaned up the $60 medicine, I called the pharmacy to ask if I had to call the dr. for another script or if they could just fill it again. They replaced the medicine for free!!! I highly recommend Peronnes Pharmacy.
After a crazy Tuesday we have been hanging around the house. Andrew has been running around like crazy man, not napping and begging for fries, mac and cheese, cheese sticks and anything else that is not on his diet.
Lily is a tough cookie, she has been sleeping well at night but barely napping during the day. I gave her benadryl for her nasal congestion and she didn’t act tired or go to sleep at all that afternoon until bedtime. She is taking her medicine very well and handles the breathing treatments well. We are praying that she will not have any more respiratory allergies that need breathing treatments.
Thankfully Bobby was off to help me and wasn’t bogged down with studying. We are so thankful that our kids are healthy most of the time and I am soooo thankful we don’t normally have to do diet restrictions on the kids.
