Yard Day

We have been busy at the Caivano casa working outside getting our hands dirty. Bobby and I (mainly Bobby, spent most of the day Saturday and Sunday working in the yard) We currently are digging up our flower bed to plant new plants. So we have been digging up tree roots from the pine tree we cut down a few years ago. Here are some pictures of the the men on Sunday. We have great family that is always will to come put in some sweat labor for us. We are so thankful.

Hardworking hubby

Andrew was are "supervisor." He loves being outside with the men.

Daddy love, I was so happy Andrew decided to keep his hat on while we were outside (doesn't happen much).

Dad has put in quite a few hours on the flower bed project. THANK YOU!!!

Working hard!

Kirk putting a nice sweat puddle on my kitchen floor!

My shutters got hung! Next project is to plant some bushes and flowers in front of the shutters.

I don't even know where to begin to describe this week. I have no clue what to title this post. So I guess I will start at the beginning of the week.

Sunday- Bobby worked all weekend, we hosted life group at our house. Andrew took a really long nap (first clue something is up). Right before everyone comes over, Andrew wakes up and has a fever. So we strip him down to a diaper, give him some Tylenol and have home group and put him to bed early. We end up being up with Andrew until around 2 am with him uncomfortable from the fever.

Monday- Still running fever so Andrew hangs out all day in a diaper and sleeps a lot. Bobby wakes up at 9 am thinking that he doesn't work until Thursday night. So he puts in a full day of work around the house. 6:45 pm rolls around and we are waiting on our good friends to come over to eat dinner and hang out. Bobby gets a phone call from a co-worker asking where he is? He is supposed to work. Bobby rushes out the door as our friends are coming in the door. So Andrew (who has a fever) and I eat dinner with our friends. Poor Bobby worked all night so he was up for 25 hours total! Andrew's 16 months old.

Tuesday- Baby boy still feverish, starts getting a rash. Bobby goes to work and finds out he is orientating to charge nurse. Kinda funny he didn't ask to train for this position. A charge nurse is the nurse that is in charge for the shift that night. If other nurses have questions this is the person they go to, I am sure there are other duties too.

Wednesday- Andrew's fever breaks for good and he has a rash. It turns out he had roseola or fifth disease ( a common baby virus that just has to run it's course). Bobby has his first night a charge nurse and starts feeling sick.

Thursday- Happy 4 year wedding anniversary to us! Bobby wakes up at 1 pm with a fever of 102. We have to cancel our date plans. I get lovely flowers and dinner delivered from a great mother in law.

Friday- Bobby wakes up at 4 am (he has a crazy sleep schedule) feeling better but not great. We hang the shutters on the house!!!! I will do another post with pics. He does more stuff around the house. My wonderful mom babysits Andrew, so Bobby and I can go see Robin Hood and eat dinner at El Fenix.

So that is our week, it is funny every year something crazy is going on around our anniversary.
Year 1- we move to Fort Worth 2 days after our anniversary.
Year 2- we had just moved into our house.
Year 3- we got new carpet installed the same week as our anniversary.
Year 4- random sickness (Note to all first time parents- babies make you sick. Bobby and I have never been as sick in our 8 years of dating/ marriage as this year( we have both worked in the hospital setting and I have worked in a classroom!). Supposedly it is the first baby that makes the parents get sick, then we will have antibodies and immunity built up for the other kiddos. So we will see if this is true.

Anyways, I love my life! I love my 2 men! Looking back on 4 years of marriage all we can do is thank and praise God, He has been so good to us. He has opened our eyes to so much more of Him, we have trusted Him in areas that we never would have in our 1st year of marriage. Thank you Lord for drawing us closer to You!

The story of a boy and his dog in pictures.

Finding DeckerFeeding her grass through the fence.

Happiness, he really does smile right as I take the picture!

Random Andrew achievement- he can now feed himself with a spoon. He currently loves putting his hand over his eyes to play peek a boo and now is more verbal and will have a conversation with you or read you a book (of course this is all in grunts with his lips tightly sealed so a vowel or consonant sound doesn't accidentally slip out :) This is giving us hope that a verbal explosion will hopefully be happening soon. Until then I patiently wait to hear that famous phrase of "mama" that Andrew has only let slip out on accident a few times :)

Andrew's current favorite outside toys the rake and the shovel. This was when we were feverish and he hung out in the diaper all day.

Notice the ribs sticking out along with the belly. How is that possible??

Now look at his belly in this picture just seconds later! P.S. I love crocs on walking toddlers, they are so easy to get on and off and they let his feet breath.

2nd anniversery in 2008. Andrew was in that picture, we just didn't know yet. We were so tan because we had just gotten back from a canoe trip.

Celebrating a day late, but it was still a wonderful evening.

Please no squeakquel!

Home owner tip: If you hear something in you attic take care of it ASAP. Squirrells are very difficult to get rid of, once they have been up there for a awhile.

Here is the whole story, this winter was long and cold. It snowed a lot, we started hearing critters upstairs in the attic. So Bobby got rat poison and put it up there. We still kept hearing the little pest, so we decided it must be a squirrel. So winter and most of spring had pasted when we finally got around to getting some fox urine to put up in attic. That didn't work, because once squirrels make a home that they like, it is hard for them to leave.

So a couple days latter Bobby got a trap. We put peanut butter in the trap and checked several times a day for several days, but no luck. So we were giving up hope, finally on Wednesday we got the squirrel, Bobby shot it with a pellet gun twice, Andrew got to watch his old man "subdue" the land. I freaked out, I hated that little pest but it was sad to hear him squeak as he died.

On Thursday I busted out the kiddie pool, Andrew was having a momma day. He wouldn't let me get more than a arms reach away from him all day. So it was a long day. He was frighted at first by the pool. So I barely filled it with water. Disclaimer: Yes he does not have swimming trunks on, that is because we have some intense diaper rash so we were airing out and I thought it would make it more like the bath. He warmed up to the idea, and overall he had fun.

First reaction to getting in the pool. I think he was mainly upset because I didn't immediately get in the pool with him (I had to take some pictures and video a little).
Started to warm up to the pool and had fun scooping the water with the shovel.

I can't get enough of this face!

Mama's Day

We had a great Mama's Day in the Caivano house. It was a crazy weekend full of lots of celebrations (well for me, sadly not Bobby.) Bobby studied all weekend. I saw my cousin and her boyfriend from Missouri on Friday. Saturday hosted 2 showers, got food poisoning or something weird, sick in the middle of the night. Woke up early on Sunday morning and drove to Waco for Maya's baby dedication and then came back to Fort Worth to celebrate mother's day with my parents. It was a great weekend and we are so blessed to have special friends and family to celebrate with. We were so tired that everyone in the Caivano house was in bed asleep by 10:30 pm on Sunday. I can't remember the last time that happened. Here are a few pictures of the weekend.
When I came home from Dallas late on Saturday night I found, 2 cards and 2 balloons on the kitchen table for me along with some candy. The balloons are from Andrew, Bobby got me candles that smell like summer (cumber basil) and hand weights. They both were very thoughtful gifts! He is Andrew playing with my gift.

Action shot of playing with the balloons, he is starting to play very boyish, banging and hitting things together.

This week we also broke out the shorts. It was so cute to see his little legs. They have been hidden by pants all winter.

Simply adorable!

15 month

Earlier in the month we went to the doctor for Andrew's 15 month well baby appointment. He was 30 inches tall and weighed 21 lbs.

Here are a few of the things he can do now.
  • Walk backwards kinda fast.
  • Find his feet and belly button.
  • Climb up stairs.
  • Go down a slide by himself.
  • Help mom and dad with anything and everything.
  • Grunt for main communication. I have never heard so many ways to communicate through grunting effectively.
  • He loves to move furniture around. He puts his little blue plastic chair under our kitchen table to sit with mom and dad in the their big blue chairs.
  • Refuses to eat whole vegetables, but gobbles pureed veggies up.
  • He can now reach to grab things off of our desk and night stands. We are losing our high grounds. The other day he came out of the office carrying the video camera.
  • Dislikes smiling for the camera or video camera. I won't give up!
  • Found him putting his hands in the toilet water. yuck
  • Loves trash cans.
  • Enjoys getting every sippy cup out of the cabinet and bringing them to you one at a time, asking you to fill them up with water.
  • Decker enjoys Andrew sharing his snacks with her.
  • Still warming up to the idea of sandals. Andrew screams when I put the on, but is slowing adjusting. Haven't tried the flip flops again, yet.
  • Always wants to drink out of mom's water bottle and eat what ever I am eating.

I am sure there are more to add, this is primarily for my memories.

We sure do love this little guy. He makes our heart smile. God is so good to bless us with this sweet child.

Dana dashes in

This weekend Dana dashed into Fort Worth for a wedding. Fun times were had by all. When she got here we took a walk to the park (gotta get the workout in :) She got to see Andrew run around and get into everything. Then she and I headed off on a little road trip to Denton, while Bobby, or should I say Cathy feed and put the little guy to bed. :) It was fun in the car we got to talk more, after the wedding we met up with Megan and Joel (Dana's sister and brother-in-law) at Gloria's. I ate way to many chips and salsa (it was so good, it had been forever since I have had chips and salsa at a restaurant. Okay maybe only a week and a half, but remember we went on that walk earlier in the day :) It was such a fun time. I love to watch her love on Andrew, and try her new makeup products. She even taught Sunday school with me in the 4 year olds class. I can't wait for our next weekend together. All dressed up for the wedding. I am so jealous of Dana's long hair, it looks so good.
Little man "double fisted" Oh how he loves his snack cups, that he stashes them around the house.
