Here are some pictures we took on Saturday night at the ER. It has been a long week, full of tummy troubles. It all started last Sunday, Andrew was having severe diarrhea (every hour) and occasional vomiting when his stomach became very distended and rock hard at night. The x-rays revealed a significant amount of gas in his stomach, which is what caused the distention. Then Andrew got blood drawn to check for a wheat allergy (so thankful it came back negative this morning!) We did stool cultures (this was especially fun for mom :).
On Saturday night, we couldn't handle the thought of a possible bowl obstruction any longer. Andrew's stomach became the most distended we have ever seen , we could barley get him in the car seat his stomach was so big, and for the past week had eaten very little, and lost quite a bit of weight, on a already small guy. So we loaded up the car at 7:30 pm and headed to Cook Children's Hospital.
Thankfully the ER got us in fast, they put a IV in and Andrew got fluids to help with the dehydration. Then he got the sonogram that showed no distention and all of his organs looked great. Over the next couple of hours Andrew passed all of the gas that was in his stomach. We went home around 1am on Sunday relieved that it was not a bowl obstruction, but still unsure about what is going on.
This morning the dr's office called us to report that Andrew does not have a parasite or wheat allergy and that they want to do one more blood test and then referred us on to a gastro doctor, if this doesn't clear up soon.
This morning, Andrew seemed to have more of his appetite back and had a normal brown bowl movement, for the past week they have been yellow. So we a hoping this virus or whatever, is finishing up in Andrew.
On another note, Bobby hasn't been feeling well now since Saturday night. He has been having tummy troubles as well.
This week has been such a long stressful week, of not really knowing what is going on and going back in forth in our minds as to what we should do. Bobby and I have been asking the Lord for direction and stretched to continue to praise him when we are tired, confused and stressed.
They had to wrap the IV so Andrew wouldn't pull it out, it looked like a little cast on his arm.
At midnight he finally crashes as we wait to go home, this is the latest he has ever stayed up since his first month of life.
Hoping we will see more of this soon!
A cute picture I from the Stock show.
Other stuff this week:
- Bobby studied and studied and studied some more. Then he took the pathophysiology test and....... got a 92!!!!!!!!! I am so proud, over 10 days he watched 18 hours of lecture, read 80 pages of study notes, plus textbook reading! whew I am tired just typing it. On his moments of down time he graciously helped me clean up lots and lots of tummy troubles (no need to go into too much detail, you know what I am talking about).
- I got to go to a wonderful mom's conference this weekend. Sally Clarkson and Whole Heart Ministries put the conference on. Her books about motherhood a great and refreshing. It was fun to get to know some other girls at church better and to get away from the tummy trouble at home for a little while. We stayed at a really nice hotel in Las Colinas, ate lots of good food, heard great speakers and got to have lots of girl talk! It was quite fun check her out, Whole Heart Ministries.
