This week I got some great stuff on clearance for next Easter. Lily has a super girly pink basket and I got some egg dying kits and a package of Easter cookie cutters. I love how aware Andrew is becoming. He fell in love with the sports ball egg dying kit. He has been asking everyday. So today I hard boiled some eggs and we had fun. (P.S. this was Andrew's first time to do this, I personally do not like the smell of vinegar and hard boiled eggs. Funny how hearing the word "ease" (please) melts my heart into holding my nose and having fun)
Rolling the eggs in the dye, he also enjoyed watching the vinegar go from clear to a color and the tablets fizzed while dissolving. He takes after his dad, he tasted the vinegar! (yuck) he didn't make any kind of a face, I just told him we aren't going to eat the egg shells .
We colored the eggs before dinner. I told Andrew if he ate his dinner we would decorate them. The eggs dried on the kitchen table as Andrew scarfed down his whole bowl of food. He would point and remind me of my promise. We both were happy, I didn't have to deal with our dinner time drama (that has been happening a lot lately) and Andrew got his reward. So while we ate I kept thinking they aren't drying fast enough and I have to keep my word! So I got the hair dryer out to help speed the process along.
After eating all of his dinner Andrew decorated the eggs with stickers of sports balls and colored on them with a crayon. He used all of the footballs first (that makes dad proud), then basketball and baseball, he wasn't very interested in the soccer ball. I think because he doesn't have a black and white one at home.
Action shot.
My football egg, it's a plastic wrap that you melt on the egg with a hair dryer.
It was fun to craft with Andrew, it helps pass the long days when Bobby has to study for a test. It is hard on everyone to have Bobby away on his days off. Lily watched all of the egg action from the moby wrap and let mom take lots of pictures :)
