This morning Gramps came over and we carved a pumpkin. Andrew was sceptical at first and didn't like the slimy pumpkin guts, but as we kept working he warmed up and realized he could clean up the pumpkin seeds and enjoyed pumpkin carving.

Watching dad cut the opening in the pumpkin.

Still a little unsure. I got a pumpkin carving kit on sale last year after Halloween and it made it so much easier to carve with!

Wow, what is that????

Then Andrew warmed up and enjoyed taking the lid off and putting it back on as a game.

Bobby trying to get him to stick his hand in the hole.

Momma showing him the seeds and the guts. We even found a seed that had spouted and was on it way to grow another pumpkin inside our pumpkin. I guess this pumpkin was pregnant!!!

Andrew even got Gramps the photographer to roll up his sleeves and dig in. Andrew loved holding the scoop and dumping stuff into the trash can. I hope he always has this passion for detail and cleanliness.

If pumpkin cleaning couldn't get any more fun! Andrew got to decorate his pumpkin with a MARKER!!!! He begs to us markers, I don't know how he knows that they are cooler than crayons, since he had never used one. He had a blast scribbling on the pumpkin and on his hand and arm.

Next we busted out the real tools. It is hard to tell in the picture but Andrew is using a little knife to carve the pumpkin with. Dad was such a good, safe and patient teacher.

Having fun using sharp objects to cut the pumpkin.
Andrew did a great job carving his 1st pumpkin, we had lots of fun and it wasn't as messy as I thought it would be!
